2019 Koonya Garlic Festival Garlic Competition Winners
The 2019 Koonya Garlic Festival garlic growers' competition attracted some fantastic entries from around the state. Expert judges Angus Stewart, Jim Reid and Ben Bate had a tough job separating the entries, with a high-standard observed throughout the nine categories.
The judges noted that despite adverse weather conditions at the end of last year, there was a marked reduction in disease compared to 2018. A special mention goes to the entries in the Junior category, which were all beautiful, well-presented garlic. The judges were particularly impressed with Ruby Leditschke's winning entry in the Junior category, which also took out the prize for Best in Show!
The Koonya Garlic Festival Committee would like to thank Bream Creek Vineyard, Tasman Rotary, Osborne Helitours, Port Arthur Lavender and Blundstone for their generous support of the competition and provision of prizes.
