2018 Koonya Garlic Festival Garlic Competition Winners
This year’s Koonya Garlic Festival growers’ competition attracted entries from around the state and as far away as King Island. Many growers had a difficult year, with low rainfall and unseasonable weather patterns. Despite this, the quality of entries was very high. Our expert panel of judges, Penny Woodward, Dr Jim Reid, and Tino Carnivale at times had trouble separating the entries. However, the final results reflected the quality and care growers took in their presentation. Of special note was the junior category with Poppy, Isabel, and Ruby Leditschke entering superb quality garlic to take out first, second, and third prizes. Also, a special acknowledgement to Amanda Davies for her 'Best In Show' entry.
The Koonya Garlic Festival Committee would like to thank Bream Creek Vineyard, Tasman Rotary, Pennicott’s Wilderness Cruises, and the Tasman Business Association for their generous support of the competition and provision of prizes.
